Two thousand lumens in a 258-gram system is a meaningful achievement, and the Silva Exceed 4R is built for runners and orienteers who need maximum light output without carrying a heavy rig on their head.
The Exceed 4R sits at the top of Silva's headlamp lineup in terms of output, with a standard mode of 2000 lumens and a boost mode that pushes to 2300 lumens when conditions demand it, technical night orienteering, fast descents, or navigating complex terrain where every detail matters. Intelligent Light combines a long-reach spot and wide flood in one beam, while Flow Light lets you shift between wider coverage and longer reach by tilting the lamp, no button press required mid-stride. Super-low mode at 80 lumens handles easier sections efficiently, and the reserve mode steps down automatically to guarantee 30 minutes of light when the battery runs low.
The included 3.5Ah battery weighs just 129 grams and slides into the rear headband holder, keeping the full system balanced at 258 grams total. Burn time runs from 4 hours on max to 20 hours on minimum, covering everything from a fast race effort to a long backcountry day in the Canadian wilderness. The Silva Connection System opens compatibility with additional Li-Ion batteries from 2008 onward for expanded options.
