My Dad: Dealing with FTD

Dementia is a disease that most people know about. When I say "My dad had FTD." I get blank stares, so I qualify that with, "It's frontotemporal dementia." The response then is usually a nod, along with a question. "Oh, so he had Alzheimer's?" No, my dad did not have Alzheimer's. He had FTD.Frontotemporal lobar degeneration affects the frontal lobe and the temporal lobe of the brain. He remembered me and my siblings. He knew who his wife was. But only a year after diagnosis, he could no longer figure out how to work the remote for the T.V. He could no longer drive. He had a severe stammer that he never had before, and it progressed in to full on aphasia.This book is a PHOTO ESSAY showing my dad as he was affected by FTD as compared to how he was before this disease began to change him, to take him away. Incorporated in this essay are memories from family and friends telling you how he was.
