Mrs. Feeny and the Grubby Garden Gang is all about a woman who works to outwit an imaginative gang of 8- and 9-year olds. Does she succeed? Kid-chasing Mrs. Feeny tries everything to maintain her perfect lawn, including running the sprinkler way too long. However, the neighborhood kids continue to cut across her corner lot on foot or bike, creating a dirt path in the middle of her front yard. This is also a tale of intergenerational discord. Author Sandy Baker creates a compelling story as "meany, meany Mrs. Feeny" devises a unique lawn replacement solution to the kid issue. Brilliant gouache illustrations by Jim DeWitt cause the kids and garden to practically jump off the pages. The one-page glossary contains terms helpful in reading the book as well as in home and school gardening projects. Parents and grandparents who love gardening will enjoy reading this book with their children. Read more
