In Native American cultures, they are thought to bring the summer rains and renewal of the land. In Celtic tradition, they are harbingers of change, having been transformed themselves from dragons. Whatever they symbolize to you, they can enhance virtually any decorating scheme.

• Dragonflies are recognizable signs of summer. The drone of their flapping wings are the background music of July and August, indicating that the height of the season has arrived.
• The wings of these dragonflies can be bent to good effect. Don't be afraid to give them a little upward tilt to really give the effect of flying.
