Everwilde Farms - 1 lb Mixed Single Poppy Garden Flower Seeds - Gold Vault Bulk Seed Packet

Create a shimmering wave of color with this bright mix, which contains the super-popular Red Poppy, along with pink and white variations. This annual often self-sows and is highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and birds. Carl Linnaeus first described the classic red poppy in 1753 in his landmark publication Species Plantarum. In spite of rumors to the contrary, this particular poppy does not contain opium, but rather a mild sedative. This explains the poppy's association with sleep in ancient mythology and symbolism. The genus name "Papaver" comes from the Latin word for "milk," referring to the white sap in the stem, while the species name "rhoeas" means "red."
