Emeco 1 Inch Reclaimed Stacking Chair - Light Grey

Jasper Morrison, a designer with work in MoMA’s collection, has teamed up with Emeco to create the 1 Inch Reclaimed Stacking Chair. Since 1944, Emeco—a company based in Hanover, Pennsylvania—has been producing furniture from recycled materials. Emeco's first chairs, made from salvaged aluminum, were created for Navy warships and can now be widely found in restaurants, hotels and offices.

Morrison’s collaboration with Emeco, the 1 Inch Reclaimed Stacking Chair, is made in the USA from 90% industrial waste consisting of 75% waste polypropylene and 15% waste wood fiber—leftover bits and pieces that are sourced directly from the floors of wood shops and plastic producers. These pieces are reclaimed before they end up as more waste in our environment, and are then cleaned, compressed and transformed. The mix of the two materials creates a wood composite with the strength and endurance of a synthetic that has a warmer, more natural texture than raw polypropylene.

Morrison’s design is a simple yet elegant shape distinguished by refined uniformity and supreme comfort. This everyday, versatile chair—it can live in your dining room, living room and office—is engineered to meet the demands of high-use environments and can be used both indoors and out. Measuring 31" tall, the chair stacks ten high, solving the problems of extra seating and easy storage. The chair is available in orange, blue, bordeaux, sand, brown, green, light gray and dark gray.
