  • ✅ Doctor fish, also known as Garra rufa, is a small species of fish native to river basins in the Middle East, particularly in Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran. These fish have gained popularity in recent years for their role in a unique and somewhat unconventional spa treatment known as "fish pedicures" or "fish spas."
  • ✅ Hygiene and Health Concerns: Critics argue that fish pedicures may pose health risks because the same fish are used for multiple clients, potentially spreading infections. To address this, some jurisdictions have banned or heavily regulated fish spas
  • ✅ Ethical Concerns: There are ethical concerns about the welfare of the fish used in these treatments. Some people believe that keeping fish in small tanks for the sole purpose of providing pedicures is inhumane
  • ✅ Effectiveness: The effectiveness of fish pedicures as a means of skin exfoliation is debated. Some argue that the results are temporary and not as effective as other traditional pedicure methods
