Camino

Winner: New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards and Seven Sisters Book Awards This full-color illustrated book of poetry chronicles the author's 500-mile solo pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Daily poetic reflections recount the joys, physical challenges, humor, and locations of the long-distance walk, and explore the larger metaphor of the spiritual journey. The meditations, photographs and other art work document the daily walk from one town to the next, the experience of staying in hostels called albergues, of trying to sleep amidst snoring pilgrims, of meeting strangers from around the world who become friends. Each page celebrates the unfolding blessings that come from carrying only what is needed and from learning to recognize the abundance of grace in ordinary life. This book is a beautiful and inspiring companion for those contemplating or returning from pilgrimage, for the curious armchair reader who may want to follow the walk from hostel to hostel along the ancient Camino, as well as for those interested in the journey of the human soul.
