ANSI Z87.1+ Impact Protection/Optical Standards
ANSI Z87.1+ frames and lenses must withstand the impact of a .25" diameter steel ball. For spectacles the projectile must be traveling 150 fps and for a goggle 250 fps. ANSI Z87.1+ frames and lenses must withstand the impact of a 1.1 lb. projectile dropped from a height of 50" to ensure your eyes are protected from unexpected blunt force impacts.

Meets MIL-PRF-32432A Specification: Military Combat Eye Protection
Meets the Military Combat Eye Protection (MIL-PRF-32432A) standard for U.S. military standards for ballistic eye protection. For spectacles the projectile must be traveling 700-725 fps.

APEL Approved
The APEL (Authorized Protective Eyewear List) classification is used to indicate that US DoD personnel can purchase and supply this protective eyewear model to their servicemen and women.

Please be advised that only eyewear on the APEL® has been validated against Army requirements for ballistic fragmentation protection. Other commercial eyewear products, even if marked ANSI Z87.1 compliant, do not necessarily meet military impact requirements. Eyewear not on the APEL® is not authorized for wear during combat, training, or when there is a risk of impact injury to the eyes.

Please be advised only clear and neutral grey sunglass lenses are approved, with the exception of products with approved laser protective lenses. Non-laser commercial lens tints, such as yellow, are not approved for use due to their impact on color perception.

APEL® vendors should take all precautions to mitigate APEL® products being sold to non-DoD or non-military personnel or entities.
