Extends the life of electric or gas water heater tanks in RVs, campers, trailers and other portable water heaters. Tip: Requires 1-1/16" Socket for installation, not included.Note:When the anode rods are depleted, the water tank will corrode faster. The tank is at risk of leaking and you are at risk of being hit! Please check regularly, the anode rods should be replaced once a year or when corrosion has eaten away about 75% of the mass of the anode rod.ANODE REMOVAL: Turn off the power to the pump, turn off the gas supply and the water heater. Make sure the water has cooled before removing the anode rod. To remove, use a 1 1/16-inch socket wrench and turn counterclockwise. It may take a great deal of force to loosen if it has not been disassembled for some time. Drain the water heater and flush the bottom of the tank of any deposits. INSTALL NEW ANODE: Wrap threads clockwise with Teflon thread sealant tape or sealing compound suitable for potable water. Insert the new anode rod into the drain opening and tighten by turning clockwise. Turn on the water supply and fill the tank with water. Check for leaks around the anode rod threads. If there are leaks, tighten the anode.
